There are few things in the world as satisfying as fried chicken, so all hail Chicken Hof & Soju – the Korean chicken joint which is open until the early hours at four locations across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. Fill your table with sharing portions of fried chicken, spicy chicken, kimchee pancakes, Hite beers – and a starter or two if you’re feeling particularly ravenous. Hovering at around $150 per head, this is delicious, bargain Korean cuisine at its very finest.

If you like your food with a bit of a kick, the you will love new Indian takeaway joint Masala Train. Tucked away on the corner of Wan Chai MTR Exit A1, this delicious little haven boasts a selection of mouthwatering homemade curries, keema rolls, sides, and guilt-free desserts with zero sugar that will keep you – and your wallet – extremely satisfied. The best thing about this tasty gem, apart from the incredibly reasonable prices (a Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and salad will only set you back $58) is the fact that every dish is high in protein and fibre and contains no artificial sweeteners or excess salt or MSG which we usually associate with Indian cuisine. Essentially, this is one of the healthiest, most satisfying, and most generously priced late night snacks you will find in Wan Chai – and it’s only walking distance from all the bars! If you don’t fancy a big meal, then the devilishly good Samosas and Falafel with mint dip make a filling snack at a bargain $30 each, while those with a sweet tooth will likely enjoy a pot of the heavenly Gajar Halwa (Carrot Pudding) or creamy Kheer (Rice Pudding) which cost a mere $25 each. Whatever you select from the colourful menu, make sure to pick up a cup of sweet and spicy Masala Chai while you’re there – it’s seriously good!
Under Bridge Spicy Crab
For a local seafood experience, under cover of darkness, take a seat at Under Bridge Spicy Crab. Tucked under the Canal Road Flyover, this spacious venue is a no-frills affair, with all eyes on the fresh seafood being whipped up in the kitchen. The famous Under Bridge Spicy Crab (pictured right) is an absolute must – and famous for a reason. Checking in at around $150 per head, it’s near impossible to resist ordering the entire menu. Just make sure you welcome the Beef Noodles to your table and bury your face in Deep Fried Squid with Chilli, Garlic, and Salt too.
